Ok so I got a call from 800 number that told me to call Diana back at this number to validate my entry form for a cadillac or something -- im on the do not call, so I call her back to rip her a new one and got voicmail....of course. She called me back and went into her little speel about my entry form - i couldnt yell at her, she was too nice but i told her that I was on the do not call - she said it didnt apply because I filled out an entry form (which I doubt I did) but she had my email address, she told me she validates contests for nationwide giveaways -- whatever I sill think its a scam and to prove it, I set an appointment for tomorrow at the "claim" center. She didnt ask for my cc# or social or anything which is good but I told her I was going to call her back after I went there and if it was a scam that I would have to report her -- that didnt seem to bother her at all....whatever, I'm taking one for the team and I'll go check out this scam in person. I'll let you know what color my cadillac is .....lol
Ok everyone I went to the claim center in Ormond beach and Im going to let you all know what happened. When me and my wife arrived we were greeted they took ou confirmation letter and then they brought us into the room, there were about 5 other couples there at the same time as us. Man named Jerry gets up and introces himself says he is going to put on a power point presentation about their travel club and he'll be back after the thing is over he came back in with some other sales people and started calling names, we ended up going in with a woman named Laura. She told us a little more about the travel club, which I guess if affiliated with the Royal Floridian hotel (across the stree from where the claim center is) she asked us if we were interested. I said NO ...she dropped $800 off the price and asked again I said NO. She left the room and came back in with my scratch ticket, scratched- says we won an 8 day 7 night cruise, its aboard Carival. She escorts us back out to the main lobby -- that was it we were there about 50 minutes I was expecting the sales people to be all over us like flies on **** but that was it. Ok here comes the interesting part, as we are leaving the lobby, about 3 of the couples that were in the power point presentation were being walked across the street to that Royal Flordian, I guess if your interested they must tour you. My wife and walked to our car and I saw one of the other couples that was there I couldnt help myself and I had to ask them what they won ...of course its the cruise right? THEY WON THE FLIPPIN TV, they had a voucher of some sort and they were on their way to circuit city to make sure they could redeem it. So when we got hime I had my wife look up the cruise we "won" and price it out, on Carnival going to the destinations it says that same cruis eowuld run us about $3000. The cert says we have to port charges totaling to 180 each so that would be $360, so we got a $3000 cruise for $360 -- were going to San Juan. Guys I have nothing but good stuff to say, I dont know about any of the other locations they deal with but the Ormond Beach location is great find.
I got called by a woman, but in her message she left, she started too early, so I didn't hear the first part of her message, leading me to believe that this was a spam call. Also, the fact that I "may" have won also sent up a red flag. But I think I did fill out a raffle form in the past few months, but I would have expected the business I filled it out through to contact me. I am going to call them today to see if I am another Thomas Hunter. The number is a Massachusetts number.
This lady Dianne called me too. I don't know if I should call her back. I'm pretty sure I filled out a raffle forum before. Should I call her back? I don't know. But I am going to call her back. Then I'm going to see what happens.
