BUT, also got one call from 855-977-1996 - also an INVALID number; likely coming from the SAME SCAMMER source.
Another site (Mr. Number) states that this is an 'invalid' number. I was assuming it was because of the '900' exchange. Any other reason it might be deemed such? Also, our VERIZON Official (Massachusetts) Phone Book lists all the valid exchanges for the 339 area code (which is an ADDED AC for cell usage) and '900' is not among them. Closest one is "920". So, I think its safe to assume that ANY number can be SPOOFED whether a valid, can-be-dialed-and-reach-someone number - or not.
TWO calls from them today, back to back in less than 30 minutes. Unfortunately for them, they'd already been BLOCKED after they called in February! FAIL! This is an INVALID, FAKE, PHONY, SPOOFED number. there are NO "900" exhanges in the 339 area code, Per the VERIZON OFFICIAL Phone Book!
If the NPA/NXX combination was invalid, there would be no town or city passed with Caller ID. The combination may be reserved for future use.
The LERG is the defacto word as to what combinations are valid and which end office/tandem switches should be utilized to terminate calls to the NPA/NXX.
