I just got the same call. Told him I was tired of his games and not to call me again. He kept calling and I just did not answer. Usually says Unknown caller
Thanks Jeff... Like you, I am also an IT Administrator. You're lucky that you only get a call from these yahoos once a year. I get 3-6 of them a week. Always from different numbers.
I get these calls at home, where I have 3 servers and 18 computers. I've done the same thing you do... I asked him which computer. He goes "Your Windows Computer". Which I replied, "Which one, I have 18 computers and 3 servers. I need to know which one to allow you access to".
At this point, he knows he's been had. He can't tell me and in frustration, he hangs up.
Just received a call from same # and person spoke with what seems like an India accent. Connection was sort of bad and he asked if I could hear him while he also said something about my computer. I responded, 'Yes, I can hear you but there's nothing wrong with my computer.' He hung up on me. I blocked his number but then realized that when I said, 'yes' in my response to him that he might have been recording my voice and may have taken my 'yes' for his own scamming benefit. I suggest we don't reply using anything that might allow to be taken out of context and recorded for their personal scamming use. Of course, I'm hoping that I am wrong on my interpretation of my response but I'd rather not throw caution to the wind.
A scammer saying my computer was sending errors, yeah right, played along for a while then asked him if he was a goat humper or one with a red dot on his forehead. He kept talking so I got very unkind to him and then hung up. The fool called me back trying to tell me about my the errors again, so I let him have it, needless to say I probably would have put sailors to shame with what I called this guy.
