I just got a voicemail from this # I called it back acting like I didn't know what was going on. The man with an easy Indian accent, who was hard to understand, asked if I was aware of the IRS situation and them suing me. I told him I knew there was NO situation and asked if he was aware this scam & # were all over the internet. He said yes. I told him to stop with the [***] scams and stop wasting people's time. He said OK and hung up.
I just received a phone call from this number. It was a message indicating to call back immediately, because I was being sued. I called back and a man with a very strong Indian voice said that the IRS was going to sue me, take away my license, home etc. He also said that I would have to get an attorney or pay $3,000.00 to the IRS!!! Initially, I thought OMG!! How did this happen and when? He kept saying that our conversation was being recorded and that anything that I said would be held against me. I began to think. The IRS would not call me out of the blue like this demanding money. So I listened to my inner voice saying give the IRS a call and tell them what just happened. I looked up this area code and discovered that several others have received the same call.
They will try to scare you and persuade you to pay using your debit card before hanging up.
