Some lady with an accent identifying herself as Alyssa Brown, claiming to be from the investigations department of the IRS left me two messages telling me that an arrest warrant had been issued against my name, and that my address was under federal investigation. Told me to get back to her ASAP, and if I failed to contact them my file would be forwarded to local police and I would be arrested. I immediately knew it was a scam since I pay my taxes, and I know the IRS doesn't conduct itself in that manner, threatening to arrest you without contacting you via mail beforehand and letting you know what is going on. Still, I decided to call back. Same person answered the phone, and again told me that I was under investigation, never gave me the reason why. She asked me if I still lived in the same address on file, and if I had received anything in the mail from the IRS in days prior. I had not. That's when I let her know that I thought this was a scam. For someone claiming to be from the IRS, and who deals with people who commit tax fraud, she gave up trying to convince me pretty easily. She hung up after I called her out on being a scammer. Them trying to scare you with an arrest is an immediate red flag. Don't fall for it.
