I was called from 202 436 9791 telling me I had been chosen to receive $9000 grant money from a list of government employees. I would need to call 347-855-7961 to claim it; this Jason Walker, who had a very heavy Indian accent, even gave me a claim number. I called this number and this girl Amanda who also had a very heavy accent said the funds would be coming from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York; all I had to do was make a $200 dollar deposit as security to get my funds. This is when I said no. Why should I have to pay out money to get money if it was given to me? She did not even argue with me and hung up. I am going to report this to the authorities.
They called from an 'unknown' number telling me the same scenario 'I had been chosen to receive $9000 grant money' and they were calling from the government. I questioned how they got my number and they said because I pay my bills and I had been randomly selected. They told me to call this number 347-855-7961. I knew it was too good to be true!
The same phone no. as above only from the US Grant Institute. My amount of the grant was $5,000.00 and was going to be sent to the Western Union and can be picked up there for $200.00. Gave me a Money consultant # and Account agent no. to call.
I initially got a call from 202-000-1111 but all I heard was loud background noise like a call center. I blocked that number after finding out online it was a scam number. I got from UNAVAILABLE and told me the US Grant Institute selected me for a $9000 grant. Knowing it was a scam I just kept agreeing but told them I didn't have a Credit Card or bank account. He was clearly reading from a script. He told me I could get it via Western Union but it would cost $200 to set it up after I called the 347-855-7961 with a confirmation code. The US Government does not randomly call people to give them money furthermore there is no such government department as the US Grant Institute. Beware.
