An attempt at a scare call (recording) from heavily accented man named "Steve Martin" (lol) urgently telling you to return their call, that it's your final notice, etc. some rambling about the treasury dept, grand jury, injunctions and such. We kinda wished it was a live person so we could hear more about this scam.
Called back an hour later w/same recording - we blocked number.
Received a recorded massage from heavily accented man named "Steve Martin" urgently telling you to return their call, that it's my second and final notice, etc. some rambling about the treasury dept, grand jury, injunctions , magistrate and such. I'm on the do not call list. Oh well.
I called the number back after leaving 2 voicemails. The man with the heavy accent "Steve Martin" answered and act as if he could not hear me. If I did owe something not hearing me is not a good collection tactic. What ever they need not call again b/c we do not owe anything and the number will be traced if they call again.
Same thing, bad accent, bad names, Grand Jury, back taxes owe to IRS, the police are coming as soon as I hang up, unless, you send me money via MoneyGram? I am really scared. It is funny, yet, I could see my mom falling for the scam. The question is, how can we, you, me, get this guy behind bars and in Jail? HOW?
Got the call. Called back and was told Steve Martin is a Paralegal assisting in contacting people for Dept of Treasury. The supposed agent I was talking to is James Smith with an agent #11786. I told him I was going to run his agent # to confirm his identity and he immediately hung up.
