Received call from woman with heavy foreign accent asking for my husband, Mr.....
Woman identified herself initially as a Microsoft Technical Support caller and that they have detected error messages and a virus with our computer.  (Ironically, we have been having a few troubles.)  I told her that our phone connection was terrible, sounded like she was calling from a foreign country and that Microsoft, as big as they are, would not have such a poor phone service.  She reminded me that anyone has a right to work, even if they have a foreign accent.  (Uh, ok.)  I asked where she was calling from.  Very lightly compared to the rest of the conversation's volume, she said Reddington, Washington.  I told her that if she was a telemarketer calling a Do Not Call registered number, it was illegal.  She said I could hang up if I thought she was a telemarketer.  She asked me to push the Microsoft symbol on my keyboard plus "R" at the same time.  I looked up the number calling on the internet while I pretended to fumble with her instructions.  She asked me to type in "eventvwr" in the box that opened.  I didn't push it while on the phone, afraid of what would happen.  Instead, I responded by reading her the messages from above about her call being a scam.  I then asked her to tell me again that she was calling from Miscrosoft.  She now answered that she was a Windows provider.  At that point, I called her inconsistencies out and hung up.  Since hanging up the phone, I looked at what came up after pushing "eventvwr".  I see a remote connection option to connect to another computer.  Ouch!  Never do that!!
Note:  386 is the country code for Slovenia.  I can now place the accent!!  386 in the US is used in Florida.

I keep getting calls from this number 386-878-4959 I don't answer when I see its that number on my caller id. I think I will answer the next time with a whistle and hopefully it might stop the calls and blow out their ear drums. I don't understand I have my number on the no call list for these kind of calls, guess its not working.

Unfortunately, the DNC list is not designed to protect you from scammers and others with criminal intentions.  It was designed for legitimate businesses who want to avoid making sales calls to those who registered not to receive them.  In addition, surveys that do not lead to a sales pitch or ask if you want a sales call afterwards, solicitations for charities, political calls and debt collection calls are specifically permitted.  This caller is attempting to scam people.  Since when has any law ever prevented a criminal from committing a crime?

Well my handy phone sends a fax sound to any call that I do not pick up and my computer actually turns a fax mode on the printer. Very handy...couldn't have planned it better. So now the criminal thinks they called a fax number. GOOD. If I do pick up in error, I will tell the next ones with this scam that I hate MS (true) and am going to fix the computer for good with a sledge hammer - so no need of them to 'fix' it. I will buy and install a Mac within hours of 'fixing' my PC (which actually went to the land fill (or whatever) a year ago).
