This call was one of the ones the news talked about a few weeks ago. When first answered they said nothing. After saying hello a second time, they said "can you hear me?" From what I had read a few weeks ago, this is to get a recorded YES response for future use. I hung up. They didn't call bk.
Did not answer - did not recognize #. No message left. Tried to call the # back from another phone and was told I had reached the gift card center and had won either a Walmart/Target, etc. gift card. I hung up.
Every time I am talking to a friend of mine who is a professor at a local university, these kinds of calls deluge the connection. I suspect that there is some kind of tracer on both our numbers. Yes, I am very much aware of these robo-calls that start off with "can you hear me?" I have caller ID, and normally I don't even bother to pick up the calls that show up. However, since calls from the area code 504 have been hitting my line when I speak to my friend, I decided to check. Sickening.
