I also got texts messages from this number asking me about an item i had posted on craigslist, and he said that he only can use paypal to send the money and after I got the money he would contact the shipping company to come pick up the item..total scam ,,, don't give out any information to this guy , he uses the name Richard Brown when he contacted me.
I also was getting texts from this guy (Gary Fontneau) about my post on Craiglist. He wanted to purchase my bike and wanted to use paypal. He told me he was in San Antonio and when the money clears he would send an agent to get the bike.
Same story as everyone else. Gary Fontneau wanting to purcase my car. I gave him my Paypal account info and he supposedly sent the money and they put it on hold. I was supposed to send $750 (Western Union) to shipper: Gabrielle Quintanilla, 5362 N Vassar Rd, Flint, MI 48506.
Luckily, i had not confirmed my new bank account with PayPal, so hopefully it doesn't get hacked. I may have to close my PayPal and open a new one, I'm not sure. What triggered the deal was the grammer mistakes in the emails, text messages in the middle of teh night, and the urgency to send the money. Lesson: Trust but verify!
I just got a message from him also on my truck. Replied with CASH ONLY! I figured it was a scam and just check the web and came across this information!! Very helpful.
Just had Gary fontneau text me too about something for sale on Craigslist I don't have PayPal but still so glad I researched this. I was suspicious when I saw that it was an out of town # I searched the # and it shows its from Montana..
As I live in area code 504, I keep informal tabs about when junk phone calls are reported from that direction. Such calls are considerably rare compared to those from all the other possible area codes in North America. Historically, southeast Louisiana has been overwhelmed by pirates, carpetbaggers, and all kinds of shady characters dating back to the 17th century! Although the calls are scarce, if you should get a number from area code 504 that you don't recognize, check it twice! And wish good luck for those of us who simply want to live honest and fair lives while being 'hedged in upon" by those who want to control us as if we live in a "banana republic".
