A heavily accented "Steven Johnson" called "on behalf of Comcast". When I asked if he worked for Comcast, he actually admitted that he was a telemarketer. He wanted to ask questions about my viewing habits in order to custom-design a cable package that blahblahblah.
I also received a call from this number from someone claiming to be from Comcast. He said that it showed I had cable and internet with Comcast and he had a promotion that could help save me money. He said he had a few questions about my television viewing habits and asked me what kinds of things I watched on TV. Currently, I don't have a TV and don't watch TV and told him that. He responded with "Oh, I see, you don't have a TV. I'm sorr--" and promptly hung up. I called back to see what kind of scam this was and got a message saying that I have reached Comcast and to leave a number.
This number keeps calling me about the same Comcast promotion. I receive a call each day in the evening about promotions (one that we will receive $600 and a complimentary solar panel--total BS). I just spoke to Comcast and they said it is a scam, which my instincts told me. I'm going go put this number on the Do Not Call list.
Repeated calls from this number claiming to be calling on behalf of Comcast with updates and deals, c.f. other reports ; the location of the call indicates "Alexandria, VA" as the location. The telemarketers typically have non-native English accents abruptly end the call when trying to confirm any details.
