It's the pond scum who purchased out of statute debts and hope to harass people into paying for debts that have been charged off by the original creditor. Blow them off.
If you put the number on your block or reject list they just call from a different #. Usually it is an area code 301. And the person who said it is for an old debt that they can't take you to court on is completely correct. They buy these old debts for pennies on the dollar. They can't make you pay it after 7 year and they can't sue you in court after 7 years. These are usually credit card bills. If I am right I don't think they can take you to court after 4 years in some states but it will be on your credit report for 7 years. They will just call you all the time. I believe I am going to change my number. Good Luck
I get calls from this number and whoever it is, uses different numbers and even an unavaibable at times. I assume it's a debit collector but when they leave a message, it's for my husband and we really don't want to talk to anyone. I am on the do not call regestiry, thing. How do they call me if I'm on that.
I believe you are very correct on the years they can take you to court and years on credit.
One day all of us will be out of this mess - it just takes forever.
