Ditto. I literally JUST got called from this number. While it was ringing, I googled it and the top result brought me here.
However, Cee does make a very valid and useful point: NEVER put your phone number up on craigslist, or any other publicly viewable, bot-scrapable website. I only give my mobile to those who would have a need of it and I would wish to hear from, and I only enter an old disconnected landline number when filling in online ordering information. Yet, it never stops. I get multiple calls of this sort daily, as well as the "nobody is there when you answer" calls. I think the calls with nobody there are just checking to verify that it's a valid number that someone answers, so they can then sell the info to another scammer as verified live, or call you from a different spoofed number to throw the pitch.
I think what many of the "I'm on the DNC list" complainers are not understanding is that these calls are -for the most part- originating overseas, and they are using VoIP and spoofed caller ID info. The one thing EVERYONE is right about is that it's out of control, annoying, and something needs to be done about it. As our mobile carriers all make money off of carrying and connecting these nuisance calls, and charging their customers extra for USEFUL caller ID and number blocking, I'm not holding my breath.
