Officer James state he was with the IRS, and either my attorney or myself needed to return the call to (5713082454)
If I did not return the call all he could say was good luck.
Left message from an "Officer Jason Mueller" who said in what seemed to be a phony Irish accent that we should call back immediately. Then he warned that we should not ignore the message or omit to call back and that if he didn't hear from us or our attorney (!) he could only say, "Good luck!"
No idea what he wanted. Have not and will not call back.
Had the same exact phone call twice today. I didn't answer but everything on the message was exactly what was said above. Same name, mentioned lawyer and good luck. I have not and will not call back either.
There is a widespread IRS or "tax scam" being practiced by scammers on both Canadian and USA residents.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.
