Many, many telemarketers use the survey ploy to get around the fact that they are actually selling something. So that person's thoughts are not that far from the truth. So you see, it could possibly be a scammer, but in any case it is an unwelcome intrusion into people's lives. Unfortunately they are not regulated as much as they should be.
