I am so completely done with landline phones. The useless a-holes are relentless. In the trash with the landline. Blocking doesn't work, they just keep calling from other numbers. To hell with this stupid [***].
Received a call after 8pm tonight from this number, will block it, as I have other scammers. Just showed up as the phone # and Arlington, Va., and hung up as it rolled to V/M. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO GOVERNMENT AGENCY THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE STOPPING CALLS TO OUR PHONE NUMBERS ON THE DNC LIST???
Thank you for your excellent post and the research behind it. I would only add that another contributor mentioned: "two calls within 60 seconds". This could be what is known as "Double Calling". It is a tactic designed to tie-up a phone`s OS long enough to sneak past the caller ID and/ or call filtering defense system.
Please tell me where this supposed "Double Calling" is documented. I'd love to learn more about it. As far as I know two calls in 60 seconds is nothing unusual and happens quite frequently. Is this something new in telephony? Is it only on cell phones or landlines as well? I look forward to your response and to reading about it.
