An 828-190 # would be invalid. The area code would indicate western NC. The prefix doesn't exist. On top of that, I live less than an hour away from Asheville, NC. If I get wind of an actual scammer working in Asheville I can promise you that the scrub won't be making calls next week. I can tolerate the Mexican gang activity. The biker community is close to my heart. The gays & lesbians are like an annoyingly loud mantel clock. A scamming Tele-fraud will set me off!
Believe me, if a fraudulent debt collection outfit tries to set up shop in western NC they will have a shelf life that's less than that of a pimple on a nuns a**. This is the Blue Ridge. Moonshine, drugs, vice...okay. Scammers? Not a chance in Hell!
This is still a part of the world where a mans word is his life. He breaks his word, he forfeits his life.

I am being called from this number from someone saying he is from Microsoft support and he is trying to sell me something for 199.00 that will last me for the rest of my life in protection from network hackers. He is crude and cannot type accurately. He said if I don't buy the product he will have to shut down my IP address so I don't infect others.
The caller is a LIAR!! There is NO WAY he could tell there was a problem with your unit unless you gave him access to it --a TERRIBLE mistake. They are thieves, NOT Microsoft people.
I got a call from this number today and put through what I have learned is the eventdwt (or something like that) scam. The fellow had just fired up TeamViewer when I stopped him and we ended the conversation. He said he was from Microsoft Certified Technicians nd that I had a serious problem on my computer. It took me a few moments to realize that Microsoft would never call me like this so I got his number. He actually answered the call when I called back to tell him I would need to consult my partners to get authority to deal with him, so he was actually at the end of this number. He called back again later but I said don't call me, I will call you. This is a pretty good scam artist as scam artists go.
