I was contacted via email about my car for sale on criags list. The email said my sister is interested please text her the car info and asking price. I did so. A reply came an hour later: My name is Ms. Kathleen Dan, I am okay with the asking price and would love to go ahead with the deal right away. I am contacting you via email because that works best for me as I am hearing impaired. Presently, I am on duty, busy working offshore (Alaska) for Halliburton Oil Service and coming to your residence for inspection will not be possible, so I will be paying you online via my Paypal account because it is the only form of payment that I have.
I am in law enforcement and I am very familiar with this scam, however now they are asking for your number and text you. Beware.
That's fookd up. I just got a similar email from this person, but luckily my bs o meter is extra sensitive after dealing with scam emails for years. Just a quick google search led me to this website, and now I'm glad somebody posted about this number, won't even bother replying. Or maybe I'll do the ol mess with them and get their hopes up routine :D say I got the payment and I'm shipping the vehicle, and they wait...
Same number just tried to scam my boat off CL in Detroit metro. Here is the email.
" Please can you text my sister directly on her phone number (571) 488-9071 with name and your final price, she have interest in this ad. So that she can text you back direct from her phone. Thanks"
Just put our Boat for Sale on Craigslist. 1st response was from 571-488-9071- "text my sister with info on boat and price". When we found out that it was a Virginia prefix, we knew it was a scam.
