Since the caller ID comes in "United Breast C", I would say it's a charity. They are quite persistent. I've had several calls from them and they never leave a message on the machine.
Yes and they keep changing numbers. Check out their rating before you donate. It's down in the gutter for charities !! Beware of charity operations who change their number all the time and collect money that goes to "operating expense" and not to the charity. They are also calling from 571 298 8288 and 571 582 1555 and now 571 758 1555. Cute !!!!
Beware of calls from this number, and also from numerous other numbers ( they keep changing the numbers, but it is always "breast cancer c.") This is most obviously a scam, and they are beyond persistant, they sometimes call several times within an hour or less. I am bombarded with this , and similar calls, from all over the country, this scam business is out of control. the best answer is to monitor the numbers, and do not answer them at all !
I have been getting calls from this number every single $#%! day for the past 60 days. No message ever left. I happen to be on a call with my daughter when my call-waiting beeped. I made the huge mistake of not looking at the caller ID and this is how the call went:
Me: Hello?
"Janette": Richard?
Me: Yes?
"Janette": You're a hard person to get a hold of! This is Janette from the Unite Breast Cancer Fund blah blah blah blah" We'd like to count on you for a $20 donation.
Me: No.
"Janette": I understand money is tight, but $20 is such a small donation. Can we put you down for $20?
Me: (At this point I suspected it was a computer talking, so I started talking gibberish) What day is today?
"Janette": I understand money is tight, but $20 is such a small donation. Can we put you down for $20?
Me: There once was a man from Nantucket who had a.......
"Janette": Hello?
Me: No response
"Janette": Please hold. (long pause then I was hung up on!)
