Got a call from a robot at this number, claiming it was a public service announcement that for the next two weeks there would be free water testing in my area, and to press 1 for more details. I didn't press 1; it hung up on me.
I'm guessing this can't be the real number because no 7-digit number should start with a 1? Any ideas what the correct number might be? Or is my notion of what's a valid phone number out of date?

I just got a call from this phone number. The caller ID said "name unavailable" and no message was left on my answering machine. I never saw any 7 digit number starting with a 1, especially not for our area code.
You said there would be free water testing in your area. Recently, our area was reported to have lead found in our streams (probably due to pollution from traffic). We have had legitimate calls in the past for that reason.
I could try to dial the number but if it is an automated caller, it won't receive my call anyway.
