It's someone from 1&1 Internet doing "follow up calls" about how their service was. HOWEVER, just for fun, if you let them know that they failed you as a customer, they simply hang up on you. SOME COMPANY huh??? This company is GARBAGE! Pure - GARBAGE! They first mess up on getting your services started.. in this case it was a domain name purchase. It took them over a week to give me access to it. And, with 7 phone calls into the office, none of them acted like they had a brain in their head OR acted like they came to work to actually service their customers. When they got frustrated and couldn't figure out their problem they immediately claimed everything was my fault and "Sir, I'm disconnecting this call" - that is if they even were jerks enough to say they were. For the record, they would always ask for a customer number.. this was something that was supposed to come in an email with in 24 hours, and never came. In fact, their system showed I wasn't even a customer on their side yet the domain had in fact been registered. So when they would keep asking me for this customer number I would keep telling them that it's the reason I am calling since they never sent it to me. So their way to move the call to a supervisor to handle what they couldn't,... was to ask for my customer number again.. even better, they can't transfer with out a customer number - talk about losers. So when THIS guy calls from this number and wants to know "how did we do".. and I started telling him the story, he hangs up.
For their incredible service, I don't miss a moment to tell people to avoid this company... stick with a real company like GoDaddy, or name secure or something. I have been in the web business for years and have many domains... thought I'd give these idiots a try.. lol ... never again.
I took out a 99 cent domain with hosting (1st year) with them. No problem so far. I get the model (up-charge for exchange-based mail, additional storage, other features, etc.) - I knew it upfront before ordering (nothing is free in life). I have been buying domains and building sites for over 20 years and have dealt with a lot of good and bad companies. I'll see how this one goes.
Just got a call from Carl asking if I have my own business, I giggled like a kid and said no silly I'm in school , he quickly hung up. Don't know who it is but I always act like a teenager and say I'm in school. Works everytime. I am not lying, I'm in college but they don't have to know that.
Got a cold call from Mike offering to build a website for us. Offered free domain name & build all before I could get out that my company is a holding co. We do consulting for hospitality & have 2 in-house web builders w/art and IT degrees.
What would we need with someone out of house, especially with zero references. We do use freelancers occasionally during rush times. What really ticks me is I have had 3 calls. After 1st call they made it on the block list.
The worse the economy the more they come out of the woodwork.
Just got a call from them, he was talking fast, and said we pre-registered a domain with them. Asked if it was for a particular company and I asked "wait, what domain was this again?" and he said he couldn't give that information out due to their strict privacy policy. I said "uh, that sounds strange? Why would it have anything to do with your privacy policy?" he said "ok... well we'll let you know when your pre-registration is ready" and hung up...
Talk about weird and unprofessional business practices... this company screams SCAM. I actually remember what it was for now, and it was for a new top level domain that isn't out yet.
