Supposedly calling from sick kids. Had a donor who would double your donation but only if you donated now and on the phone. She gave me my supposed last donation to sick kids and my donor number (which really doesn't mean anything to me as I don't remember any of that). I told her I would go prefer to donate online otherwise how do I know if she is legitimate. She tried to give me a number to call if I decided to donate. I told her I would get from the website.
I got a call from this number on Dec 20, 2016 @ 2:45 pm. It's very odd that they're calling from a (647) area code which is a GTA cellphone #. Considering that they're calling from a cellphone does bring up questions. If they do call again. let them know if the call was so important, why didn't you leave a message. By the way, this phone call from a (647) area code cellphone number does feel awkward.
Never give out your name, address, or credit card number. Donations or money are a obvious scam. Tell them off & hang up. Thanks!
Don't mention anything. They might try to sweet talk you. Suddenly... & just to clarify your 16 digit credit card #. Tell them if you knew who you were contacting which was you. They would have left a brief or detailed message. Tell them where to go & give 'em [***]!
Sick Kids is doing a donation push. The actual Sick Kids website confirms that they are doing a donation drive as donations will be matched up until Dec 31st. This is a company they've hired to do the donation drive but they knew that I am already a doner, when I started donating, how much my monthly fee is etc. I think donating through this is safe but if you're nervous you can donate through the Sick Kids website directly.
