This number has rang our house twice. The first time, I answered and was met with silence. The second time, they wanted to speak to the person who had been involved in a minor car accident. I flipped out, I knew it was a scam immediately. I cussed him out and hung up.
This is an Call Center from overseas that is violating the Canadian Do-Not-Call List, and they are asking about a car accident that happened 3 years ago.
Essentially, they are PHISHING for data about you, your family, and who you are.
They try to suggest that they are some how legitimate, but it is a big scam.
Put them on your call block list because calls that originate from overseas LIE to CALLER ID, and then CALLER-ID put this number on the display.
This particular number, MAY be a working number, however the carrier that is assigned this block of numbers, most likely has not assigned this number to anyone (yet - poor souls).
So, BLOCK this number, then after some time, and perhaps some action from Ottawa, or the US Congress, perhaps the new regime will change things.
IF they persist, and even call back, flag their call with your telephone provider, and write the time and date that they called, and report it to the appropriate office.
