to bad all these people are speculating and never probably went through the program. i went to bartending school and paid 500 wish i knew about this sooner
this guy calls you and tells you about a job he has ready for you at a bar. but then later hee tells you to go to a website where you have to pay 100 dollars in security money which will be deposited back on your first pay check.
the thing is a scam. the guy tells you his name is Lee. trying to take 100 bucks from you thats all
ok so this is a certification and placement service for bartenders etc. you get certified and placed. So instead of bartending school and paying out a fat tuition all you pay is a deposit. Ive already been certified so I dont need this service but I wish I knew about this one because I paid $500 to metropolitan bar school. This place at least offers assistance in placement it seems.
I also got a call from a toronto number from a guy named Lee saying he had a job for me. He called me back from an LA number which was my first red flag. he asked me to give him a call back when i was home at a computer. So I did. at that time he went through some regular questions about my experience and if i was smart serve certified and if i had a mixology certificate. I never needed a mixology certificate before but he assured me that this certificate was good. he directed me to a www.mixologyexam.com (which aslo looks shady) and without missing a beat he says "scroll here, click here, now check this box, and now log into paypal to pay the 99$fee". as i was going through these steps i started getting even more bad feelings, and started asking more questions about the actual venue i was applying for (he never gave me any address or name or ANY info on the venue). he said he cant say the name of the company or the address because it would cause a social media overflow of applicants dropping off resumes in person. blah blah blah. so after this whole payment plan was supposed to go down i would have been waiting for emails with details about the location so i could meet and greet with the bar manager. at the meet and greet he wanted me to bring my SIN # (which I wouldnt give unless i HAD the job). guranteed if i i would have paid for that "exam" i would have never recieved any meet and greet opportunities, i would have been out 100$ (even though he says its fully refundable if i got the job or not) and I would have this useless certificate.
be careful on craigslist...
the numbers which called me were 647-693-9179 and 1-213-223-6832 (LA)
ive never heard of a bar using their own certificate website that costs 99$ before any job is actually presented to a candidate. and then he tells me that its fully refundable if i get the job and even if i dont get the job. (so why not make it free ???) SCAM!
