I just received a letter from Publishers Clearinghouse, along with a check. I truly thought it was legit, but didn't want to think differently. So, your saying that this is a scam?.. I haven't called the # yet.
PCH scam?
Letter sent stating I am the second place winner in the 100 million dollars super cash giveaway promo. Sponsored by- Readers Digest, Megan Millions and Multi-States Lottery Association.
Sent me a check for $6,625.00 for insurance and attorney fees. But, Do Not deposit until calling this number (the 647 #) check is drawn on Western Union Financial services. Check looks VERY legit and I can see how people would fall for the scam. I ALMOST did until doing a lot of snooping on Google. Gotta love Google!
Turns out that the numbers are from Toronto Canada.

Total scam. Do not attempt to cash the checks. Any communication received by US mail that appears fraudulent should be taken down to the local post office so that the postal inspectors can take a look at it. This could be mail fraud.
Do not cll that number. Take the time to look up PCh and get their real number and call them It will turn out the check is fake, Why would you need insurance and attorney's fees? They want you to cash the check and immediately send them money. Then the check bounces. You are out the money and the bank fees and on a check that large may face criminal prosecution. Anything that comes in the mail should be taken to the post office and forwarded to the postal inspectors.
