As an HSBC employee who also received the text I can verify that it it NOT legitimate. Do not give out any information regarding an account if you have one.
this is a fishing scam, they request you card #. Do not give anything. If you do hold any accounts, with the company they supposedly represent, contact them directly!
Got a text from unverified sender "H.S.B.C-Business ZUSA alert"... "Please call (650)-2004041." I know banks and financial institutions don't send unsolicited text messages to people. All I ever ask for is to tell me when my bill is due, so I checked here. I appreciate people reporting these scams.

917 is a NYC mobile phone area code. Clearly a scam as banks (or any corporate business, for that matter) would not be sending SMS alerts from a personal mobile phone number, duhr.
