Got a call at work from 9193714326 which I missed. As I was checking my phone, a call from 828 348 5337 came in. I answered and hit the button by mistake and disconnected. IMMEDIATELY after, 6502047647 called and they asked for someone who is no longer employed at my place of business. When I responded wrong #, he replied in an angry tone "well you should have said that the first time instead of hanging up". After calling back the 1st two numbers that the calls were missed from, I noticed the voice was the same of the man who had just called from the 6502047647 number and the recording indicated "YOU HAVE REACHED THE INVESTIGATION DEPARTMENT, HANG UP AND DO NOT LEAVE A MESSAGE". Not sure who these people are or what their (actually I believe it's one person) job is, but I sure wish he'd learn better phone manners. Might get further if he'd try.
Received a very aggressive voice mail message from "Scott Austin" claiming that a relative had charges pending against him and that he needed to verify the relative's address and employment and that he was to contact (877) 791-6532 with a 7-digit order number. The man was literally shouting into the phone when he left the message.
The next day I received an "out of area" call from (518) 659-1350 which I did not answer. Immediately following was a call from (650) 204-7647. My caller ID identified it as "Pedram Abrari". Again I did not answer.
I tried to call both of these numbers back but I get a recording "You have reached the investigation department. Please hang up...do not leave a message".
I called the original 877 number and it answered as "Mutual Partners" and was connected to a man you took my 7-digit order number and asked my name. Before I gave him the number, I advised him that this call was being recorded. He asked if I knew the relative and I advised him that I knew him but did not have contact with him and that I wanted the calls to stop immediately. He replied that I was contacted by a contracted "locator" and the only thing he could do was to email the "locator" and advise them that my number was not a good number to locate the relative. He continued that they do not have control over the "locators". I responded that if they contracted with them that they were responsible for them. He denied that they were responsible. I advised him that I would hold "Mutual Partners" responsible for any future calls I received from any of their "locators" and disconnected.
The dept collection laws stipulate that once a "locator" is informed that the number they called is not the debtor they are prohibited from calling the number again.
We'll see what happens.....
