Just like "just me" above, I received a call from this number saying they were receiving reports that I was downloading malicious software onto my computer and that if I could just get in front of my computer he could guide me on some simple steps on how to fix this. He told me he would not gain access to my computer. He said the name of his company with "solutions for all" out of California and were licensed by Microsoft make these calls. I asked him exactly what i would be doing on my computer, to explain it to me and he hung up. I knew it was a scam right away, I was trying to get as much out of him as I could so I can report it.
Calls saying they have a report of error messages going to them and they can fix it remotely. (BullS***). I don't even have a computer. (Using cell currently) Told the caller about the $15,000 CRTC fine, asked nicely to take me off the calling list, and he rebutted stating "how do I know you don't have a computer." Holy D-bag. Repeated that I didn't have a computer in a less cordial manner. The end of the call...? He said, "can you listen to me, listen to me. You... are... a... mother*ucker." I couldn't believe my ears.
Oddly I then had another call from a duct cleaning service just a minute later. Ugh. Nobody is going to do business with these scammers. Have some basic integrity, telemarketing call center agents and get a job that ISN'T the equivalent of a parasitic infection or diarrhea.
Caller told me my Windows OS had been sending error reports to them and he was calling to help me see if there was malicious software on my computer. I knew it was a scam so I asked him for the Windows license # so I could see which computer was. He gave me a fake # and I asked him for a the company name and a call back number. He said Windows Service Center @516-292-4294. I asked him where he was located and he said NY. I asked who to ask for when I called back and he said Robert Emp ID# 1097. Caller had thick Indian accent.
