Phone rang, then dialed, static/dialed/static/dialed... Finally it hung itself up. Thought it might have been my wife calling internationally through a forwarding service. Don't know.
This guy called me asking how I like the Xoom money sending website I had recently signed with. I mentioned I hadn't used it yet and he asked me why not. I said I lived in Hawaii, and he said something garbled that I sounded like they don't work with that country. When I called the number back, I got a voice mail saying< "this is Jack. Please leave your name and number and I will get back to you as soon as possible. I called many times for about 20 minutes and actually got threw to "Jack" who continued to purport he worked for Xoom, while I heard another person seemingly on a phone call too, like a phone bank. He tried to get me to do a transaction and i said I'd just said I'd use the website. I called Xoom and they said that they are not familiar with this phone number, so ignore the call. I expressed concern as to how my phone number got from the Xoom website to this guy - was it by hacking or by someone working at Xoom since both are in the San Francisco Bay area!! The Xoom person said they forward the issue to someone.
Same deal...signed up for Xoom yesterday...but have not yet used the service. Got a call today from this number...but they hung up when I answered. Sounded like a busy phone bank in the background. Suspicious...
Same deal...my husband signed up w/Xoom yesterday and we received our call today, background noise and someone breathing. I called the customer service number given on the Xoom website and the number has been disconnected.
