It's a spam, from an impersonator who claimed to work for Treasury department.
Here are some red flags:
- Calls were made on Veterans day ( Federal Holiday) No calls were usually made on Fed Holidays
- Calls were not made to any specific person ( They're hunting to see who will fall into this)
- Very heavy accent, most likely from overseas
- Calls traced back to "Magic Jack phone system"
I received a call from this number - it was a recorded message from a man with a VERY heavy Indian accent. It said that I needed to contact him about a 'serious matter with the Treasury Department' and I needed to appear before a grand jury. He also said this was his second attempt and if I didn't call him back they would take action. Seriously, how dumb do these people think I am?
He said he was calling from the Treasury Dept. 2nd attempt a recording, I needed to appear in front of the grand jury.
1. They don't call you.
2. They don't leave a recorded message.
3. If they want you that bad they will come and get you..
4. They don't call from Ca. at 0547 am. Calif. doesn't get up that early.
I just got the same call (Indian man)- didn't answer figured if it were that important they would leave a message - anyway for a serious matter like this - like posted - this isn't how the government tries to get a hold of us -
And they don't call a 7:22am CT SCAM - hopefully they get caught -
