I just got this call, which I didn't answer. Rational before even thinking it was a scam was that I know no one in NYC much less at a school. Then I looked on here to see it was a good thing not to answer it.
Scammers claiming they are from Microsoft and that they detected a problem with your computer and will scam you out of a fee to fix it. There must be a big network of these scammers since they use multiple telephone numbers from different areas. You need to report them to the FTC.
Do not answer this number. This is the Microsoft scam that's been reported previously. The caller directs you to a Web site that will download software that takes control of your PC for ransom.
