My mother in law got a call and was given a claim number and was told to call 718-340-3078 to claim winnings from Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes. The guy that answered claimed that he was officer Raymond Jones with US customs. He said that she had entered a sweepstakes and had won 875,000.00. We called him back and he had a hispanic accent and he was hard to understand. He said that she had been sent two notices and never replied. He told her that they have been trying to contact her for 18 days and today was the last day that she could claim her winnings. He also said that she needed to act quickly because they were about to close for the day and she wouldn't be able to get her check after today. She told him that she had never entered a sweepstakes. He said that she must have because she won and he needed 12,037.00 for federal registration, shipping and insurance. She told him that we could come pick the check up or she would give the money once she cashed the check.
Thats when we lost him. We are going to report this to US customs, then we are going to keep calling him back to tie up as much of his time as we can just for FUN!!!
REMEMBER; IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, THEN IT PROBABLY IS.
I received the same call for Ph# 202-241-0694 named Dvane Pozza (very hard to understand) indicated he is calling from Department of Fraud Division form Washington, provided claim number and asked me to call US Custom Protection Dept at 718-340-3078 to claim the package with the same story above to call immediately. Its looks like a SCAM.
These people have been harrassing my father for 2 weeks! Even got a call from someone saying they were with the Department of Justice! SCAMMERS!!! Don't believe a word from them. I called the real DOJ and they told me they have nothing to do with any sweepstakes! Numbers he has been told to call: 202-407-7199 (DOJ bogus number) 812-297-1252, 876-868-5290, 718-340-3078 (US Sweepstakes Fullfillment???). Watch out people, they will rip you off!!!!!!
