I am receiving calls from this number...caller id shows New York...a computerized female voice says this is a final and official notice from IRS before filing a lawsuit against my name...they never state a name...instructs me to call them back at (253) 336-5054...reverse lookup shows this number to be associated with a federal grant scam...very annoying!
They call everyday at 7 or 8AM. The number has always been blocked but today it came up as this number. Someone trying to scam me with my Windows computer. Not sure why they are so persistent with calling every single day. My roommate was very rude to them originally so perhaps this guy just wants to annoy us as much as possible. Too bad for him I actually think it's hilarious to be called a "b*tch" in that heavy accent.
I had fun with them at first.. you know, "Oh no, something wrong with my computer you say?!? Hang on! I'll power it on now.. (put phone down for 5 minutes)..." or breaking out the Dr. Phil soundboard and messing with them. Hey, at least it keeps them from scamming (or attempting to) someone else for a few minutes. Maybe next time I'll try to get HIS credit card number.
Got a call from this number at 11:43 am (est) today. Said that the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me. First I panicked, then I calmed down and looked up the number. Read posts so I realize it's scam. I think that the real IRS would at least mention the name of the person they were filing suit against.
As an after thought, I called my 83 year old mother and told her to be aware of this scam. I urge everyone who has elderly relatives to call and make them aware of this scam so they won't be taken advantage of.
I received a call, supposedly from Windows technical service. Not the first time. Didn't give them a chance to waste my time and just told them I wasn't interested. Funny, really, as I work off Mac.
Does anyone really let guys like this connect to their computers?
If I'd had more time, I might have had some fun with them.
My "technical assistant" had an accent that was definitely Asian, quite possibly Chinese.
