Got a message from this number. The guy knew my name, said his name was Steve Ross from the Investigation Dept of the Internal Revenue Service.
Had a British or muted Aussie accent. Claimed he was calling about a legal case filed against me and my physical address is under federal investigation and "before anything goes wrong urge you to give me a call back as soon as possible my call back number which is 718-473-0562 I repeat 718-473-0562".
When called back it was an indian accent woman. Challenged her that this was not the IRS because the investigative services would be in Manhattan not Brooklyn and the female scoffed and said why didn't you just laugh it off? To which we said we're reporting her and she immediately hung up. Tried to call back and our number was blocked. Tried to call with a blocked number and we were still blocked.
These guys are scammers and IRS has warned about it. More sophisticated ones will use fake badge numbers and titles.
Had a called from 718-473-0562 claimed that he was calling from IRS regarding a case filed against me and that my name is under investigation. I hand up immediately. This is a scam so.
