DF King is a proxy soliciting company looking to get your proxy votes registered for an upcoming shareholder's meeting for a stock you are registered as owning. It is not spam or a scam. They have been hired by the company of the stock and are merely trying to get the votes tied to the shares of stock you own so they will have a legal majority for whatever vote is to be held (usually it's for electing the company's board of directors, but not always).
I had been avoiding this number over the last week. They never leave a message. So today I pick it up and there's nothing on the line. I hang up, it rings again, nothing. So I leave it off the hook and in about 30 seconds a person comes on the line. They are representing an investment that I own and need me to place my proxy vote. All the info they had was legit and they did not ask for any personal info except my name (which they already had) and address which they already had 75% of. This was a legit call. They just have really bad way of presenting themselves.
We get calls from this number several times a day and into the night. I tried calling them back but the message says this number is disconnected. We are on the Do Not Call List and also have them blocked but the calls keep coming.
I learned what they were calling me for, so called my financial advisor. He said he would send my complaint up the ladder. After a few more calls, I looked up company web site and proceeded to send an email complaint directly to info@astfundsolutions. While composing the message, they called again and I answered and told the lady about what I was doing and why. I reminded her she may someday be elderly and not be able to tell the difference between a legitimate caller and a scam caller, and concluded with "Ask your parents about or grandparents if this is happening to them." She was quiet for a moment then said my number would be removed from their caller list. Then I finished my message, noting the above-mentioned interruption. A day later I received an email from the company's Executive Vice President who assured my number had been removed from their calling list.
Finally, I did issue my proxy vote, with a "No", figuring their was some hidden motive for the rush to get my vote.
