Claimed to be department of Treasury, and they were suing me. It's a scam, I called the number back and told him I knew it was a scam and he said "get off my phone b*tch
Received a message from 718-551-9487. I called back the next day and reached the person who left the message. (He claimed his name was Mark Hanson). He said the IRS was suing me for tax fraud. I asked him to end me something in writing explaining the alleged problem. He said, "I can send you something in writing alright. I can send a lawsuit complaint and the sheriff will deliver the complaint and an arrest warrant to me. I continued to try to get to the bottom of what the alleged problem was, and told him that this sounded like a scam to me. He became nonsensical and then just hung up.
At Approximately 2:30 pm Pacific time - in Southern California - I received a call from this number a person indicate that they are with the US Dpt of Treasure and that I have to speak with Officer Rogers EXT 201 indicating I need get a issue resolved.
I called back to ask for a Williams rogers, but the person answered said they could help me - they introduced them self as Kevin Dexter (in which was a heavy foreign Asian accent guy #50566 - didnt sound like an American Name),
Kevin told me about a little background and that they have 911 and this call connected to the police if I didn't settle this case within 40 seconds. I allegedly owe $4,775.66.
they almost came across believable~ But i knew this came across as a scam. especially when their presentation had holes in it.
I allowed them to do their whole presentation and they threatened me the police will be at my door, im on GPS, and a warrant will be issued bu sepeona blah blah (scare tactic crap), at the end i played as if i am not working and they said, well call me tomorrow before 10 am and DO NOT TELL A THIRD PERSON PARTY ABOUT THIS PHONE CALL.
This number called claiming that they were the US Treasury department, and that an error had been made on my taxes in 2013. I immediately grew suspicious, because my parents filed my taxes that year. Nonetheless, they were relatively convincing. They told me legal action would be taken and that I would be imprisoned for 6 months. At this point, I hung up and searched the number, finding these reviews. This number is a scam. Never give out personal information over the phone.
