It probably will if you don't answer in any way. Let these guys get nothing when they dial your number and they eventually disappear. You won't hear from them again if you don't answer any unknown numbers.
We got a call today from 718-713-7550, the caller use the names Robert Green and William (in a heavy Indian accent). He was asking for an employee that hasn't been here in over 4 years. He wanted an email address for this person which we don't have. We told him this and he started cursing us and told us we would be sorry. We finally hung up on him. We have 7 lines at our business, this guy has some sort of auto dialer that started ringing all seven of our lines for 15 minutes. We finally had Comcast block this number and the auto dialing stopped! This happened twice today! Beware!!
The main call is "Robert Green" 718-713-7550. He has several "hijacked" phone numbers from which he calls. He is ruthless. This is a scam. I went through this a few years ago. They have my ss#. I almost got fired but proved that it was a scam. I had ended up paying a few time for debts I didn't owe but suspect are the result of identity theft. Anyway, I lost over $1000.00 within 6mo. They would stop calling for a week, then call about another "debt". The caller(s) were all nice until I said I wasn't going to pay anymore. Then, the s--t hit the fan. My employer was understanding but put up with a lot of cursing and vulgar talk. We called the local police and reported to the FTC. Unfortunately, they seem to be calling from out of the country and cannot be stopped/shut down. First the caller threatened to serve legal notice and have me arrested at my job. I told them to go ahead and do it. That made him more angry. Then he started threatening my family and said vulgar things about my boss's family. My employer actually told them once I didn't work for them anymore and this guy just cursed and called him a liar! If your ss# is run for any reason (applying for a legitimate credit card, approved background check for a job) and if these scam people have your ss#, it will trigger . The scammers also get "reports" of old debt (10yrs or older) that is legally not valid (or maybe was actually paid years ago) and they will use it saying you owe that money. Remember, if you legitimately owe money to a legitimate company, they will use legal measures to collect.
