This telephone number is used in scam email transmitted via Yale University that fraudulently claims to be a winners' notification from "Publishers Clearing House". According the the message headers, which may have been forged, the email originated from the M-Web Connect network in South Africa.
The occurance of this phone number in the email is not absolute proof that the corresponding telephone subscriber is involved in the scam: Using the number in the email may have been intended to provoke harassment of the subscriber.
I received an e-mail on July 29,2012 from Publishers Clearing House Grant Award declaring that I am a category 2 "winner" of $1,000,000.00. I am to e-mail a bunch of info, including my SSN. I didn't just fall off the turnip truck - I know a scam when I see/read one!!
I got the email "your email address won the publisher's clearinghouse $1,000,000 sweepstakes" in my spam folder. Curiosity makes me want to click on the show information button by the email and see where it originated from. It's amazing how many idiots sending this garbage think we won't check out the originating addy or do a reverse look-up. This is all they have to do with their time!
