Just called a few minutes ago. I picked up when I normally don't and there was a recording that started "Are you interested in a time share today?" I hung up right away. Annoying because I'm on the do not call list that doesn't seem to work....at least not well anyway.
Do yourself, and everyone else, a favor: Never, ever, ever return calls to unknown parties.
The con-man's #1 job is to get you on the phone. The #1 trick is to make you think that robbing you blind is your own idea. Calling back is running a con on yourself. Don't do it.
Very good advice. You forgot to mention that very often scammers spoof the phone number being displayed to hide where the call is truly coming from, so it is possible that the "Austin Graven" being displayed on the caller ID is not the person making the call and calling that number back will only reach an innocent party.
The DNC works - with legitimate telemarketers. Scammers could care less about breaking another law. You might want to invest in a call blocker if you get a lot of unwanted calls like this.
