This is from the Schlesinger company. I've done market research studies with them for over six years. They pay handsomely for your time if you participate. You have ONLY received a call from this number if (1) you've responded to one of their surveys at any time, (2) you've registered with them (or inspiredopinions.com) at any time, (3) someone fat-fingered their phone number and accidentally put yours in, (4) a company you do business with who has your information and shares it with their market research partners gave them your information (this case being extremely rare). They have no way of selling you anything, and you never have to actually participate in what they're doing, though some of the things they do are fun (say a vodka company is trying to re-brand and you get to try their beverage while brainstorming, or a candy company is coming up with a new flavor and you get to try it out first for your reaction, or a cable company wants to know why middle class people are dropping them and moving to streaming services only, and you get to voice your opinions for hundreds of dollars). If you don't want them to call you back, they won't! If you want to participate, do! Maybe I'll see you in a study. Basically, they're not calling to harass you. But they're terrible at leaving messages. Why would they, though? They need to fill ten slots at a study, 100 people reply to the survey online. They'll take the first ten who answer the phone and qualify.
I have never knowingly registered with Schlesinger. I received a call today saying I would get paid $100 IF I qualified for a survey. The 6 or 8 questions all had to do with my health. I had two major health problems in February of this year that landed me in the hospital (heart attack and cancer diagnosis). I continue to receive outpatient care for both. After asking the preliminary questions, I was told I did not qualify for the survey. I hate telemarketers calling my cell, and am dubious to talk to anyone I don't know over the phone. However, for the potential of a hundred bucks, I was persuaded. So, in the end, I didn't get any money and I'm still wondering who gave up my number, especially as it was probably due to the health care I received this year, which should be protected by privacy laws.
