Called my cell phone a little after 4:15p looking for donations for the police. His name was Sam but hard to tell if he was a real person or recording. Whether legit or not, I can't afford to donate.
Phone rang, displaying number consistent with rural southern Ohio. I was expecting a call from this region, so I answered even though I typically wouldn't. I heard an automated voice say, "Hi, this is Sam, how are you?" I said nothing, as a typical scam is to record your voice saying simple phrases for later identity fraud. The voice then said something like, "Alright, then. Goodbye." The line then disconnected. It was a strange call, and unlike calls I've received from legitimate charities. I'd advise not answering, and if you do, not saying anything.
