received a phone call from 740-901-9960 from a telemarketer that said he is collecting money for various chief of police departments. We told him that we do not donate money to anyone who calls us on our home phone. I hung up and then blocked the phone number.
This scammer is using a relatively new number, robocalling to annoy recipients anyway. Similar numbers in the Area Code (southeast Ohio) have been scamming for 1.) police departments, 2.) Ohio University and 3.) various utility companies (utility, or energy, companies are in a battle for consumers in recent months, to get them to switch providers). Caller ID says only "OHCP," whatever that might suggest. Unless you have a friend in the 740 AC or are expecting a call from someone in that AC, block these wallet-digging fools.
