You are right, this is a scam. But I just wanted to point out that the guy was not stumbling over his prepared speech, it was a more sophisticated automation. The computer has recognition of certain words but if you go outside that recognized words it sounds like the guy is stumbling over his words. When I answered he said his name was Joe. I said Joe who and he said oh, ok, which is the response to anything but I'm good (example response - glad to hear it) or Not good (example response - well I can make your day better). This kind of automation has been out for a few years and people need to be aware of it. It sounds so human.
They called us again. This time, an anonymous callback reached the infamous Hello, no one is available to take your call at this time...blah, blah, blah.
We got a call from this number yesterday, 13 Feb 2017, and didn't answer. The caller ID was HULL MA. No voicemail message was left. Thanks to all who posted information about this number. It will be added to our call blocker.
