Called 3 times at my office and I didn't answer as didn't recognize number. Finally answered yesterday at noon. Offshore call center where they want to send you a white paper (some technology related item as I'm in IT). They called again today after I told them not interested yesterday. This time I answered and immediately said, take this number OFF your list. She said "who am I speaking with". She called me so I said, "who are you attempting to reach", she asked who am I speaking with. No lady, you CALLED ME. Then I asked, what company are you with that you are calling me from, she again asked "who am I speaking with". I again said, no, you called me so want to know what company you represent and then she hung up.
Calls 3 times/day everyday. I finally answered this morning. Obviously robo-generated, as there's no one there until seconds after answering. They asked to send a whitepaper. I asked them to remove my information from their list and hung up. They called back 10 minutes later. I answered and asked them to identify themselves so that I could report them for not removing me from their list. They hung up. They are looking for you to "give consent" to send an email, so that they can SPAM you without violating laws. Active consent = SPAM for life.
this number calls me at work on a regular basis. someone above mentioned tech call and scam targeting businesses. 781 area code is definitely greater Boston area where I've had business (IT) contacts before. But I don't deal with them anymore so don't expect any new calls. I prefixed this number with *69 from my personal cell (not going to use work phone to validate they can keep calling me) to mask my number just to see who/what is on the other end. received standard phone company robo message that call could not be completed as dialed....because it's a bogus number! Since most (all?) business phone systems don't have or use number blocking mechanisms, I like to pick up on these calls and immediately mute the line, listening to see if I can tell who/what is on the other end. if silence, I dial 382-5968....do the math. or rather, the alphabet ;-) not sure if the numbers/characters appear in readable form on the other end, but it makes me feel better to hear the disconnect click.
