These are not calls from the departments themselves, but rather from professional fund raisers that (might) have been hired by the departments.  If you ask them, they will (and have to) tell you that.  They also have to tell you how much of your donations are kept by them (and it's a LARGE PERCENTAGE).  So...you're not really donating (much) money to the departments, you're paying a fund-raising company.  Be advised.
