Picking up on a call like this only makes more of them call you.

First time for the number or ID -- I don't pick up, they didn't leave a message.  I've learned that any time I HAVE picked up on an unknown call, in order to tell them to take my number off their call list, I get more calls from more numbers.    Right now I'm down to one or two every few days, including a political party.
