I got a call from 804-767-8680 on March 31, 2017 at 1:17 pm, about the time telemarketers start calling. The caller did not leave a message even though my answering machine was on. My caller ID said, "Out of area," usually a sure sign of a telemarketer. Don't all legitimate businesses use their real name for their ID? I would think so. And don't they leave a message if it was important enough to make the call in the first place? Certainly. You've got to be really stupid to use "out of area" for a caller ID, but then I've never heard anyone say that telemarketers are smart. Have you? How much do you want to bet this telemarketer will call me back several times before he gets the message that I do not want to do business with them. That's why I am on the Do Not Call list. But that's difficult too difficult for telemarketers to figure out.
I have been on the federal Do Not Call list for over ten years, not that it does much good.
She said I was receiving this call because I suffer from arthritis and back problems (lol) which I don't. She wanted to know if this was true and I I answered "no". As soon as I did answer "no" she said thank you and hung up. Smells of a SCAM to me.
I answered the call from Richmond because I have family there. The telemarketer identified himself as Medicare Assistance. He called me by name and asked if I still had medicare. At this point it was obvious that it was not a medicare call, and I hung up. However, I feel that use of Medicare Assistance is fraudulent and should be stopped.
