It probably is, I live in Anchorage Alaska and they call asking if they could talk to my boss and it really bothers me a bit how rude the person was. He just hung up after I told him "I can give you a contact number to.." *bizzzzz*
My wife owns a small hair salon and as soon as she put her business on Yelp, she started getting calls like these from multiple numbers, about listing her business on Google, including some in our local area code. She said all of the callers had Indian accents, so I suspect these calls are coming from a boiler room in India and spoofing US phone numbers.
