Go to your 'calling history' file. If you show the call as 'outgoing', it is YOU calling the default callback number to access / retrieve your voicemail messages. If you show the call as 'incoming', it is a number that is being spoofed by a hacker or robocaller computer. Don't sweat the 'outgoing' events and block the 'incoming' ones.
I have had multiple calls from this #. I reject most but on occasion recieved a voicemail consisting of noise inside a moving vehicle with the radio in the background. After research I found this # is 1 of "new Cingulars" #s. I was of the impression that AT&T bought Cingular!!! Are they trying to run up bills with this scam or whatever you would call it?
I'm in Houston and this number 832-494-9000 is the number that is programmed into my att phone for dialing my voice mail. Not sure why anyone is getting calls from the number. Might want to check your bills for cramming fees...????
I got some calls and 1 text from the same number, only found this info out through my go phone account history investigating myself. They used "call forwarding" somehow, a feature I didn't even know my rinkydink phone had! Type:call forwarding/Nature of call:local/#called:18324949000/calling#:19366459040/call date:12-11-10/call time:09:23:51pm/time zone:US/Central/call duration:0min 4sec/total amount:$0.00/service used: -/unit(s) charged: -/call location: -,-,USA. Interesting sidenote here:the last part the"call location" is exactly the same as what showed up on my acct hist for when i added money to my acct, which most definitely sounds to me like it is ATT related, like the person who mentioned their att phone voice mail. The text I got IMMEDIATELY after the call from the unknown number to me, which I didn't answer(the 9366459040), {text came from same 9366459040] read like this(w/o the "s): "Wats up this is anthony is Drake with you". I am just as upset and puzzled as the rest of you whose comments I read before putting in my 2 cents. I hope my info provided can help someone find out who's behind this activity and get them prosecuted in Federal Court!! Everyone out there beware also of audio recording apps being used against u by whoever is out there enabling them-u may be recorded and not know it-it happened to me. Let me just say that motorola 3G smart phones w/verizon wireless can't necessarily be trusted-ruined my relationship with my girlfriend-someone supposedly made a recording that sounded like me and another woman doing you know what while my girlfriend was at my house, which NEVER HAPPENED! Not when she was there or gone-Not at all. People, we must be more aggressive and demanding about things being investigated and prosecuted-our privacy and identity are at stake!! Contact the FCC, FTC, FBI, CIA, NSA, or whoever, but don't just take the all-too often empty "reassurances" of the phone companies about our/their security-anyone and anything can and is being hacked into daily!!!
