I received a phone call about thirty minutes ago. I have been applying for jobs, and wasn't sure who the number was, so I checked the number online once I got the chance. I was led to this website. I don't owe anyone anything, so it could be just a telemarketer. It is my pet peeve when people call me, and fail to leave a message.
I received a call from this number on 5-18-2012 at 10:41 am. The phone number is originating from Cypress, Texas. My voice mail picked up a snippet of sound from the call. It appears the caller was silent but in the background I could hear many people talking like it was coming from a call center. What I have learned is that many collection agencies and bill collectors are getting smart. Let's say the bill collector is located in Chicago, Illinois. They have a way of getting a local number in your community and calling you. My theory is that you think a friend or someone local in your town is calling you and you're more apt to answer the call and be confronted with a smart-[***] bill collector. As we know, most bill collectors call from a 1-800 or 1-877 number and we don't answer those calls because they're more likely a bill collector. What I've done is program all my friends, job, and family members numbers in my cell phone. If an unknown number comes in it goes to the voice mail. I then google the phone number or call the number by blocking my Caller ID (*67) followed by phone number. I am behind on my bills, don't make a lot of money and cannot pay my bills. However, I refuse to be stressed out or harrassed by rude and smart-[***] bill collectors. To the voice mail they go. Hope this info helps someone. Many websites report that the call concerns AT&T. Make sense to me because I owe them $500.00 dollars.
